ROLL THE RED WAGONS

Mandeville, N. Y. and its Fire Department are background and setting for a useful career story about young Chuck Stewart who decides to make fire-fighting his life work. Fresh out of high school and unsatisfied with his job at an aircraft factory, Chuck talks to Bruce Potter, a friendly reliable older officer at the local department and decides on a try-out period. Though his parents think his decision is foolish at first, Chuck is able to convince them of his earnest intentions and as his probationary period progresses, he comes to merit their esteem. Chuck and his dalmatian, Domino, learn and play their important roles together so that when Chuck wins his badge, the next step, military service, will be a booster to his continued work with the department when he comes home. Solid.
