La Honda (where Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters ran aground), a portrait in text and photographs by two residents of the town -- isolated, separate yet caught in the ambience of San Francisco 50 miles to the north -- a place generally accepting, nevertheless, of its mavericks and misfits, a community not sharply stratified by class, and one that has not allowed itself to be developed into yet one more Redwood Estates.
