REVEILLE: War Poems

Over 3000 poems were submitted from all ranks of the armed services in this contest run by the publisher; this volume is the result of the culling over of the entries. The material falls into three groups, -- general, narrative and humorous, poems concerning action on land, sea or in the air -- phases of army life -- the home front, etc. Possibly they have some value as representative of what the boys are thinking, feeling, doing; but certainly they have no value as poetry. Not to be unpatriotic, something suggests itself here about sticking to your guns.
