ROSE ISLAND by Charles Vildrac

ROSE ISLAND

By

Publisher: Lothrop, Lee & Shepard

This French confection may prove a trifle foreign to young American reading appetites. Tieferand, a young French scholar, is bored with school and dreams of escape from routine. Then he gets his wish through the patronage of Monsieur Vincent; he is granted a fairy-tale stay on Rose Island, a kind of childhood Paradise. However, he never forgets his family. When he discovers that his mother is ill and the news has been concealed from him, he escapes from Rose Island and all ends well. This is neither fish-nor-fowl. It's too factual for fantasy and too fanciful for fact.
