KIRKUS REVIEW

The Diamond Sky, a first novel (which has the enthusiasm of the publisher twinkling with a 3/4-carat diamond to be given away in a drawing), is the five months' Love Story of Bob (Missouri and Princeton) and Ginny (Vassar and wealthy suburban Long Island) in This Is My Beloved prose. Ginny is an innocent eighteen, sweet and shy; Bob a little more ""insensitive"" after one other experience; together they spend most of their time ""abandoning our privacies over to each other""whether indoor or alfresco and there is a great deal of ""tickling, nibbling, giggling."" Then Ginny has to have an abortion and at the end is killed running away from him on a macadam road. ""Now, in the end, she had become a lucidity, a clarity, something so simple and transparent and irresistible, prismatic, frozen into the past like those towers that had laced a moonlit sky."" Ciao.
