KIRKUS REVIEW

An at all times personal, but fully clinical, account of one man's almost fatal coronary thrombosis, the expectation of death, and the reprieve which left him with a heightened appreciation of life. Through the first hours of frightful pain, to the hospital and four days of despair, the defiance and the restlessness which followed in the next few weeks of absolute bed rest, the slow rehabilitation to everyday activities, the cardiac neurosis which followed- for a time-, and finally full recovery. This record, which also includes a fair share of medical information on heart conditions in general and their variations, has the intimacy, the inevitable self-absorption which also lends a first-hand fascination. And with the frequency of cardiac complaints, there will be an audience.
