HOME ENTERTAINING: A Complete Guide

By the author of The Run of the House this is a composite actually of four books:- Complete Party Cook Book 1000 Entertaining Helps. Complete Party Fun Book; Complete Special Party Book The approach is sound, the attention on the limitations of time and budget, rather than on unreasonable expectations of available unlimited time and money. Miss Adams traces the steps in planning home entertaining from initial lists to departing guests. She advises the inexperienced housekeeper, the woman who does her own work (or imports help for special occasions), the man or woman living alone in small quarters, the hosts in a small apartment or a large house. There's a good deal of space given to the etiquette of entertaining, in commonsense terms. The chapters on games are excellent, clear as to directions, comprehensive. Entertaining for children is an important aspect of the book -- again on a relatively simple plane. Special parties include such things as weddings, holiday entertaining, etc. Menus appear where they fit, while recipes are in a section of their own. Excellent all round manual.
