SARAH DEBORAH'S DAY

Sarah Deborah was going to school for the first time. She lived in the Sierra Nevadas in gold rush days. And she was very grown up when it came to taking responsibility and thinking for herself, but very much a child when it came to having her own way. This is the story of the misadventures that befell her when her curiosity got the better of her determination to be good. The adventure may seem far fetched, but it is a beguiling story, well-told. Three color pictures- some of them double spreads- by Marc Simont make this one of the year's loveliest books.
