A new series which should fill a need. Unfortunately the first titles did not reach us so are simply announced as available. Three September additions are reviewed here, and the evaluations will give a clue to the different approaches and varying quality of the texts. The Key to San Francisco is the only one we saw in book form. An initial map in decorative but informative style serves as frontispiece; a generous number of photographs provide further illustrative material. The text is a lively chronology of San Francisco's colorful history, with a real sense of the special characteristics and personality of the city. Unfortunately not all of the titles are of the calibre of Charlotte Jackson's book.
