An Americanization story, good as far as it goes, but it would have more permanent value if the adaption and acceptance element had been more realistic. As it is, the Czech family who come to Westchester County, New York, to live, have almost too easy a time fitting into the new environment. There are the initial problems of clothes and language, of loneliness, but in a flick of an eyelash, practically, they have arrived, are successful and popular and established. The best phase of the book is that dealing with the native arts and crafts, and their place in America.
