KIRKUS REVIEW

John Fitzgerald Blythe, one of the more bumptious boys, and his Uncle Homer, Chief of Police, officiate over the murder of Stanley Nixon (his sister, Ellie, is Johnny's girl), witness a good deal of bad feeling in the family and even more small (and back talk) between their neighbors, and finally get wind of a double indemnity life policy, an involvement in some gambling, and his wife's interest in another man. An old author, some new detectives, and a case in which action does not speak louder than words.
