The trend has been away from real picture books and towards picture story books, so it is a nice change to get this story in pictures, with no text whatever. Line and flat color, with the pictures following the simple and familiar routine activities of Lulu and her dog. There is a simple clarity that will appeal to children who like plain and recognizable facts. The artist is a Czechoslovakian.
