AMERICAN GUERILLA

Publisher: Bobbs-Merrill

Exponent of a United Nations Guerilla Command, the author tells his story of attempting to show how such a force would work, in a small way. Joining the French Foreign Legion, he is encouraged, then disappointed in Syria, gets permission to join ""Dave Stirling's Bunch"" (""L"" Detachment, Special Air Service) in Egypt. There, with ""super-commandos"" he experiences all he has dreamed in guerilla daring, economy, speed, and destruction of enemy air fields and planes, shipping, supplies. Tales of ""very good shows"", of daring stunts, of exciting raids in the enemy's back yard, make grand adventure reading, indicate a pattern for invasion, cooperating with the militant underground in occupied countries, of help with accepted ""softening up"" activities. Here is the need of equipment, weapons, trained men, necessary for such daring. Tingling.
