XDY AND THE SOAP BOX DERBY

Good boys' club story, sympathetic and human, with constructive gang activities as the eventual outcome. Young Ted is a newcomer in a smallish mid-western town, and -- after an interlude in which his father disapproves -- joins the XDY club and puts new life into its activities. The club goes in for the Soap Box Derby and after some ups and downs, which carry from presidency to being ousted from membership, affairs straighten out, the club wins the derby and the town's endorsement.
