THE GOOD-LUCK HORSE

In retelling this Chinese folk tale for American children, the Oriental flavor has been kept, but there is more directness than one associates with most Chines stories. A 12-year-old Chinese lad has made the pictures. The story follows the adventures and misadventures of the horse that a small boy made out of paper and a magician changed into a real horse. His fortunes rose and fell and he was called now Good-luck Horse, now Bad-luck horse accordingly. Finally, he and his little master succeeded in preventing a major war, and his name was permanently set as Good-luck Horse.
