The short nine year reign of Tutankhamen occurred at the height of Egypt's civilization 3,300 years ago. Not until 1922 was his tomb opened and the most exisiting burial treasures of all time were brought into light. The author first narrates the story of Carter's discovery of that year. She then records the drama of the pharaoh from his early childhood right through mummification. Seventy-five color photographs (unusual in their reproduction of color and texture) and many black and white pictures support a scholarly, fascinating story.
