A collection of authoritative perspectives from various sectors of American health care innovation.

Warner, a health care marketing strategist and a columnist for Arianna Huffington’s company Thrive Global, assembles a creative group of “Game-Changing Pioneers” in the health care field who provide informational essays and brief Q-and-A segments. Each contributor touts their own achievements in patient care while prognosticating on the industry’s future. Warner offers 35 voices in sections devoted to “Diagnosis,” “Treatment,” and “Ongoing Care,” among other topics; throughout, medical advancements are placed front and center, although the participants also sometimes discuss failures, offering insight into the drawbacks of developing new initiatives in today’s medical market. Inventive neuroscientist Sina Habibi, the CEO of Cognetivity Neurosciences, counters staggering statistics regarding the “enormous global problem” of dementia with his company’s “integrated cognitive assessment” tool, which “looks for the earliest signs of impairment by testing the performance of large areas of the brain.” Harvard University geneticist Dennis Grishin promotes personal genome sequencing to assess health rises and prevent disease. Even more adventurous are essays on developments in modern dentistry using “telehealth” technologies, and ultramodern strategies for providing remote language interpretation at health care providers. Most futuristic is the integration of artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and Xenex’s “Germ-Zapping Robot technology” for disinfecting rooms into clinical environments. Warner’s patient-centered book convincingly lays out innovative trends, processes, and philosophies. Although she lets her interview subjects primarily speak for themselves, her editorial and organizational skills are evident throughout. The “What have you learned?” sections in each segment are particularly useful, as they conveniently offer concise pearls of wisdom from each subject. Overall, this book, which Warner characterizes as “part crystal ball, part diary,” delivers an engaging and vastly informative reading experience.

Consistently educational, inspiring, and compelling.
