KIRKUS REVIEW

Mrs. Govan deserts Tennessee for South Carolina this time (the local is almost identical with that in Eleanor Lattimore's Storm on the Island (see above) -- but the readers go along with the family of orphans who are running away from the threat of separation. The chance has come to spend the summer on an island -- and off they go, and there they find a new pattern for living. A good yarn, with enough incident and a touch of mystery, with characters that ring true. One of her best tales.
