A GOLDEN AGE

A comfortable reflection, in material and style, of the unharried life of the 1880's and '90's in a town near Boston, as the ten year chronicle of the Moore family leisurely unfolds. No money troubles, no problem children, this is placid domestic life, as Papa, owner and editor of a newspaper, adores and restrains his laughter for Mama, who never lies, and who manages her brood of five with gentle hand. Close patterned family life, with numerous incidents, amusing and adventurous and human; palatable for home consumption, a time exposure period piece that is a blander concoction than Meet Me In St Louis but in not dissimilar vein.
