With brother Phil's professional status as a ballplayer always looming over him, young Stan can't help regarding even his minor errors on his Little League team as indications of his general failure. Aside from cushioning himself with outside interests in space-age science, Stan is also helped along by a series of mysterious notes of encouragement from an anonymous source. Stan's efforts to improve his game are crowned by a final congratulatory note from the same sender whose identity he finally discovers. Unexceptional but acceptable action for the younger fan who will identify with this miniature hero's predicaments.
