THE RIVER OF PEE DEE JACK

Pee Dee Jack and the others of the Motley crew of men thrown together by circumstance, all have one thing in common -- they like adventure. And in this fictional journal, they all find it. They're attacked by Indians, sought by cannibals, and gored by animals. They ride the rapids of the Pacific Northwest and run from savages in the tropics. The characters are a heterogeneous mixture, an Irishman with a penchant for telling tall tales, a Frenchman who likes to play God, and Pee Dee Jack, who can't stop talking about his river, the waterway to the Pacific. Unlike most actual journals, this one contains humor, character sketches, and lively prose. The author has given a sometimes funny, sometimes real, sometimes tongue-in-cheek, sometimes breathtaking account of a group of individuals and their always enjoyable adventures.
