NEMESIS WIFE

On the road to Manderley again as another Rebecca called Christine acquires her dead sister Eva's house, her children, her handsome, and sometimes boozy and beastly husband Max whom she loves mid hates simultaneously, and the mystery of Eva's death by her own hand. Accused by Eva's psychiatrist of being a nemesis wife who points the finger of fate at the fickle Max, Christine turns still further to a psychic and a Persian soothsayer and at last a gynecologist to learn what really happened. It's highly ornamental but sometimes Miss Evans seems to mix her tenses (does pot really go with tawny egret feathers?); still it's shamefully easy to read.
