YESHU, CALLED JESUS by Claire Huchet Bishop

YESHU, CALLED JESUS

By

Pub Date: Sept. 15th, 1966
Publisher: Farrar, Straus & Giroux

The author of The Five Chinese Brothers and other favorites has used Biblical and scholarly sources in order to project--with definitions and explanations--the typical daily life of Nazareth during the childhood of Christ. The emphasis is on religious observances, but the author, who had the help of Jewish, Catholic and Protestant clergy for her text, has also found a great many references from the Bible which describe household, educational and vocational routines. In quoting directly from the Bible, the author uses italics, but no material accompanying the galley submitted for review indicates which version of the Bible was used nor designates the location of the verses quoted. The book reads easily for this age group with as much historical/archaeological as religious interest.
