KIRKUS REVIEW

With the exception of a small New York guide, done for World's Fair visitors, this is the famous travel guide and friend's first venture into home pastures. And she has done for New England the same thorough sort of job that she does for foreign countries, except that she leaves the matter of timing more to the traveler. She starts from New York; she covers most parts of New England, giving alternate trips; she gives a tremendous amount of historical background (though one wonders how much of it would be utterly unfamiliar to the European using the guide as Americans use her European guides). Would suggest supplementing it with suggestions of other books on New England to prospective travelers.
