KIRKUS REVIEW

This will be a useful book for the coming season, for it seems as though ""everybody"" was going South. By ""South"", Clara Laughlin means Virginia, North and South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. An expert in travel book technique, Miss Laughlin follows her European pattern with somewhat more historical and biographical detail, and perhaps a little less of the contagion of the unknown that her European books had. But -- she covers the essentials, suggests the non-essentials (that are often more fun), gives data about hotels, places to eat and so on. She assumes that her travelers will be motoring south, and most of her suggestions are based on that presumption.
