KIRKUS REVIEW

This promises to be a beautiful holiday gift book, with ten full page drawings by the author. The text is quite obviously an artist's vision of the good earth and its workers, of the arteries that carry food, of the patterns of feeding our cities, of the markets, the farmers, the women of the farmers, and of the growing things that they love: corn and wheat, cattle and sheep and hogs, the seasons of growth and harvest, truck gardens and fruit, dairy farms and poultry farms -- and the universality of farming. Beautifully and poetically phrased, with a message, a challenge. But I doubt whether the farmers would recognize the idyllic picture she draws.
