With their move from a cramped apartment to a spacious house near Santa Fe, the Romeros knew they could not renege on their promise to get a puppy for their 9 year old daughter Felice. A Sunday afternoon trip to the animal shelter proved most fruitful for the adults, although Felice had all she could do to hold back the tears, for on first sight her parents had fallen in love with a huge playful Alaskan malamute! Her dreams of a cuddly puppy vanquished forever, Felice could barely tolerate the great big clumsy ways of her energetic Frosty. But slowly the ""monster's"" good nature worms its way into her heart to be fully entrenched there by a dramatic situation in which Frosty exhibits a keen intelligence that saves the day. Thoroughly delightful and witty writing combined with simple but sensitive black and white illustrations will guarantee a slew of Frosty fans among the ""read-aloud"" as well as the older independent reading audience.
