KIRKUS REVIEW

Short stories about a character who has held his audience for some 25 years (American magazine, and elsewhere). He directs the life of a Vermont town from his hardware store, as a specialist in human relations. He ""stirs around lively now and again to save other folk's bacon"". Homely decent emotions have full play, and the market is more or less established for this sentimental, humorous Vermonter.
