LIFE WITH FATHER

By

Pub Date: Aug. 1st, 1935
Publisher: Knopf

Mostly New Yorker material, telling of the finely tempered father, whose orders, whims, beliefs, manners, customs, etc. made life for his family a constant series of calamities, excitements and general upsets. A thoroughly likeable old gentleman emerges from these sketches, though one with whom it would be rather precarious to live. Amusing characterization -- and at the same time a mirror of the times....Good chance for plus sale in the previously published God and My Father (Knopf), which is co-choice with this as Book-of-the-Month choice for August. And yet another plus sale in Scenes from the Mesozoic (Yale Press). Woolcott admirers fall in line.
