KIRKUS REVIEW

A valuable compendium for the baffled young people facing the problem of why, where and how to go to college. The first part deals with costs -- typical expenses, available scholarships, loan organizations, federal and private; types of work on campus and off for those earning their way. The second part deals with the selection of the college, on the basis of curriculum, faculty, size, locality (though he carefully avoids appraisal of specific colleges). The last part swings back to the problems of working the way through -- and of preparation for after college. An appendix lists 1000 institutions, with rating and key facts. Good reference book.
