FREEDOM AGAINST ITSELF

The originator of the proposal of ""Union Now"" once again confronts a reluctant world with his challenge to act before it is too late. He feels the danger- the fault- the cure lies in ourselves, and shows successively (1) what freedom is doing to unite men; (2) the field where it now needs to unite them; (3) what freedom is doing to divide and to arm dictatorship; (4) how great, growing and imminent and is the resultant danger to freedom; (5) how we can turn this danger into opportunity. He warns us often of the danger of divisiveness leading to a major depression and urges one answer,- that we call a Federal Constitution as first step to Atlantic Union. His arguments are cogent; his analysis of the ways the Soviet is counting on the divisiveness, the growth of national sovereignties, the burden of fear engendered by our internal distrusts, security measures that fall to give security, all this adds up to sound backing for his argument. The danger is imminent. NATO is the nucleus on which we can build. Can we make the sacrifice of the fetish of the Nation State? Not easy reading, either in content or type face, but worth the effort. The market starts with your local World Federalists.
