THE WORLD OF TED SERIOS: Thoughtographic Studies of an Extraordinary Mind

One of the chief problems of the parapsychologist has been to work within the boundaries of normal scientific procedure, i.e. stringent control over given experiments. In this provocative study, the subject could have provided the ideal test case. Ted Serios is a fortyish, poorly educated, unemployed Chicago bellhop. He is also an alcoholic egomaniac and a man who is able to look into a camera and project his thoughts on film. Since Dr. Eisenbud is a self-admitted ""inexperienced investigator in this corner of the vast field that for better or worse has been dubbed psychical research,"" this study, photographs and all, will leave the reader speculating even though the Director of Audio-visual Education of the University of Colorado Medical Center proclaims: ""In my opinion, the pictures Mr. Serios obtains cannot be gotten by normal or even trick photography."" But Dr. Eisenbud has gone to an enormous amount of trouble to verify Ted's talent, documentation, intelligent eyewitnesses etc. and this should appeal to other psychical investigators who will have to wade through a writing style that alternates between annoying coyness and lectern profundities.
