A conversational close-up of Primrose Path, a street in a southern suburb, which is at moments amusing if cumulatively somewhat exhausting. Bill and Mary Sidney, moving to Primrose Path to replace the Tylers (who collapsed there) are immediately surrounded by the headlong, encompassing friendship of Aurelia May, Gracie, Marianna, Mary Claire and Sue Belle, who take over on the first day and stay right with them. Here is a life of little loneliness and no privacy, of ""sociable drinking"" which starts at ten A.M. daily, and featuring some of the most scatterbrained, unbridled and perpetual conversation you have heard; a life survived by Bill- somewhat shakily, more hardily by Mary- who within the week is absorbed happily by Primrose Path. An idea- which is sustained- but in so doing proves somewhat strenuous.
