WHEN I GO TO THE MOON by Claudia Lewis

WHEN I GO TO THE MOON

When this little space child arrives on the moon, he surprises his audience completely. For he wants to look at the Earth, with its array of colors, the ""green fields"", and the ""dusty red"" desert. He also focuses on the waters which cover so much more space than the land. He knows when night is descending and the position of the tides from the way the Earth turns. He wonders too why the people of Maine and Oregon are not neighbors, for they seem only inches apart. The whole spectacle of our planet is given a fresh view in Claudia Lewis' lucid verse and Leonard Welsgard's wintry illustrations drawn to scale and in color. Accurate scientific information rendered in this poetic manner is highly welcome.
