KIRKUS REVIEW

This is mainly about canoeing. It is one of the least heard from sports with very little literature to hand over to begineers. The author surveys the types of canoes available from the past to the present. He gives canoe handling pointers and outlines the necessary steps involved in a canoe trip. There are hints on the selection of equipment and its care as well as how to deal with outfitters. The book is advisory, rather than reminiscent, although the veteran woodsman recalls some of his own experiences.
