THE MARINE CORPS by Cleon E. Hammond

THE MARINE CORPS

By

Pub Date: April 7th, 1958

These cheerfully realistic summation of the histories, opportunities and training programs of the army, the coast guard and the marine corps ring with expert de corps and should find steady circulation and readership in the ranks of high school boys facing service. Though each book is an independent volume, taken together they constitute a good comparative basis for the young man about to choose between branches of the service, for the duties and opportunities afforded in each branch are divergent. The books are commendably specific, giving detailed schedules and descriptions of routine and life on an army base, in the coast guard service and as a Leatherneck. They do not overstate the advantages of service and are frank about the difficulties and hardships to be expected by recruits and volunteers. Terse, timely and cogent.
