Page's books on Snakes is the most interesting one in its field, which does not quite coincide with the Ditmars' books. Now comes this one on Turtles, with no competitors, and he can endow even this subject with interest. The introductory section will interest anyone with a naturalist's viewpoint, Beyond that, the subject is highly specialized, each known type of turtle in the U. S. and Canada is presented, assembling the scientific data, covering such points as identification, size, sex, eggs, longevity, distribution of species, habits, mating, nesting, reproduction.
