KIRKUS REVIEW

There is very litte information on St. Valentine at any level, but the author has reduced this to nearly nothing. Why St. Valentine might have become the patron saint of lovers is not even mentioned. The text proceeds to the customs that grew up around the day, but neither the words nor the pictures of Valente Angelo are adequate to show the changes in Valentine cards, which are given the most attention here. It winds up with a suggestion for parties and making your own cards. The book reads easily but is dull.
