KIRKUS REVIEW

Somewhat more staid and conventional than other quarter-book competition, but sunny, bright little books all the same, these Book Elves are sure sellers. It should be evident by now that any attempt to tamper with Alice in books or on films results in a surrealistic jumble and the text of this abridgement is no exception, although we prefer these mild illustrations to Disney's.. Chester is a jolly little pony who loves children and the story with the somewhat overly winsome illustrations is pleasant..... Train lovers will enjoy the explanation of R.R. symbols and the story of a miniature railroad in the tale of Mr. Punnymoon... Bouncing rhymes cavort through the story of a gay group of Shoe house children and their busy activities....Andy is lonesome for the country, but soon has a little backyard farm of his own and makes new friends...The word book contains bright pictures for identification and rhymes illustrating playtime doings on a happy day. All books feature soft, buttery colors although the drawing has a stereotyped ""outness"".
