Destroyer life, with details of routine and action. Plenty of information, the contributions of all parts of the ship's personnel, -- damage control, navigation, rescue, submarine attack, gunnery, feeding, etc. Then the experiences of front line, maneuver, screen assignments, the minutias of daily and battle life. First on the ""Boise""; then in command of ""G"", tales of his men and himself, of the function of destroyers, of successive South Pacific engagements, of shore landings, of periods without sleep, of ""coconut shoots"" and many a ding dong with the enemy. Good reading even apart from the interest to the martial minded.
