SUBMARINE! by Commander Edward L. Beach

Shooting the breeze with a submariner makes for an exciting report on under-sea activities in the Pacific, 1942-1945. For it's a record of honored ships and ""brethren of the silent service"" which displays the dramatic life they led on patrol, in mine laying, reconnaissance, and fighting, as they outthought and out maneuvered the enemy and as the human unit fitted into the personality of their sea-going home which was often their coffin. There is the gadgeteering, the thrill of battle, of danger, the suspense when the chances are their ship may not carry them to safety. All add up to a whale of a good naval account.
