Selection of the Catholic Book Club. This may help to widen the American public of the woman generally considered the greatest woman writer of Southern Europe. A searching study of a woman, who in her hunt for happiness as the be all and the end all, destroys something irreplaceable, and comes to a realization of what she is, of her selfishness and cruelty. The picture is essentially Latin -- the contrast between the intellectual woman and the traditional Spanish lady of high degree is no tribute to modern women.
