SKIING FOR BEGINNERS

By

Publisher: Scribner

Expect top specialty sales for this, for we know of no other book for young skiiers comparable to this. The author, at present a ski instructor in Vermont, has used excellent photographs by Nancy Graham of ""Spike"", a sure-footed youngster on skis, as he demonstrates positions and movement. Beginning with advice to young skiers on hill behavior and proper approach, the author proceeds to discuss equipment and the first steps -- walking, the side step, the herringbone, the kick turn, to the trickier business later -- the stem christie, banking around a turn, etc. The text is simple and lucid, but for the pre-high school child, some adult help and discussion is in order. A stunning format, too -- all in all a reliable seller at the price.
