KIRKUS REVIEW

A period romance without as much frou as Miss Heaven's earlier ones--this time crossing from Paris to a very auld castle in Scotland which Marietta Gilmour is to inherit along with the sore-headed straggle between the Scots and the British. (Embers of Culloden.) These have been kept warm by her grandfather's steward Coll who proves to be worse than that Loch Ness monster and imposes all kinds of indignities upon her including marriage before she's saved by the nearby British Colonel who has loved her all along. A shortbread and butter item.
