WINDOW ON THE UNKNOWN

Publisher: Scribners

This is a complete account of the microscope, within a framework of the history of science, and all the curiosity and irony that attended its discovery and development. The author has handled this material with the objectivity and precision the subject demands, and carries on through to the development of the electron microscope. The detail here, not only on the instrument and its application but also the many references to minor figures, would suggest that the book is for the serious young scientist, and there will be illustrations, photographs, a chronology, suggestions for further reading, and an index. All the right apparatus for a thorough text.
