THE TOTALITARIAN WAR -- AND AFTER

By

Publisher: Univ. of Chicago

Count Sfocza, Italian in exile, has a clear grasp of the fundamentals of the European situation, and presents some challenging basic ideas in these Green Foundation . So don't pass them over simply because they are ""lectures"". He doesn't pull punch in analyzing the complicity of France and England, but places his blame what more adroitly than many critics. He studies the contribution to the present made by the aristocrats, the Tories, the press -- and shows how brilliantly Ger has made use of the tool of propaganda (and Italy too). Nations alone are strong have preserved intact their political freedom -- hence it is life and death to tators to destroy all democracies. ""There is no longer room for isolation."" says be ""In a world all parts of which are becoming more and more interdependent; just as is no room for a free nation in a world of slaves."" His comments on Russia are interesting in view of having been made almost a year ago:- ""Old Russia may prove she is a great human force. The Dictators will learn it if they are going to try what Napoleon tried in vain a century ago."" As for the future,- he sees a leveling of custom boundaries, a customs union for central Europe, colonies in federative, international frame, and a new policy of the powers in China -- all working towards a community of free nations. A book with plenty of grist for the mill.
