KIRKUS REVIEW

One's first impression on reading this is: How profound Count Sforza's knowledge is of motivation, personalities, facts of Europe today. One's second impression: How little one can know from second and third hand acquisition of information, and how this book shows one up. Little by little the facts and theories and psychological analyses slip into place, and one finds one's own perceptions sharpening, one's understanding of international conflicts increasing. Not light reading -- philosophical rather than factual -- but interesting and stimulating.
