KIRKUS REVIEW

This variety-by-variety description of common trees suffers from insipid illustration and is conspicuously lacking in identifiable pictures of the leaves, seeds and fruits under discussion. The introduction to the structure and growth of trees in general and the specifics on the botanical structures and uses of common species are acceptable if undistinguished, but readers unable to tell a locust from a sweet gum, much less a yew from a cedar, will surely be frustrated.
