This is the story of a young civil engineer, with double appeal as a first rate story with unusual material, and a good vocational book. A young, graduate engineer student loses his first job, on a railroad, and goes as Reserve Officer to a number of C.C.C. camps. Through this work he gets valuable engineering experience, and finally gets in with a construction company on a vehicular tunnel job. The author is successful in holding the thread of story interest, even when talking in technical terms. The experiences in the C.C.C. camps is particularly valuable, as a phase of government activity, in its proper setting.
