An objective view of the problem of world government by one who has given considerable thought and energetic application to the matter. This brief and lucid essay is developed from a series of lectures on ""the process of political integration and the problem of world government"". Prof. Brinton studies historical examples of political integration (which he defines as the union of formerly independent political units into a greater unit):-the Roman Empire, modern France and the British Empire and the methods by which they were achieved and held together; and from his examination concludes that peace necessitates political integration, but that the progress to world government will be slow -- that we shall reach it ultimately.
